About Us
Ōtepoti Communities Against Sexual Abuse (ŌCASA) is a not-for-profit, community support organisation dedicated to supporting the Ōtepoti/ Dunedin community to heal from sexual harm. Our mission is to eliminate sexual violence and to address its impacts on survivors and the wider community. ŌCASA’s survivor support services are free, confidential and available to people of all backgrounds (16 or over), and includes Crisis Support, Counselling Services, and Court Support.

About the role
We are looking for a candidate who has experience and awareness of trauma, power dynamics and anti-oppressive practice to support the emotional, mental, spiritual and social needs of survivors and their whānau. As part of ŌCASA’s Crisis Support and Court Support team you will work closely with survivors, the Police, the Courts and SAATS (Southern Sexual Abuse Assessment Service). You will be responsible for managing a caseload of clients; providing crisis support, court support, holistic intervention and identifying and managing risk.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and minimum of two years’ experience working with clients
- Registered with a relevant professional body
- Experience providing support to others in a community and/or therapeutic setting, and an
understanding of trauma informed practice - Assessment and intervention skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Resilience and the ability to remain calm and focused in crisis situations
- The ability to reflect on, and continuously improve practice
- Excellent organisational and communication skills and can follow processes
- A sense of humour is essential
The starting salary for this role is between $68,000 and $102,000. This role is covered by the pay equity agreement and the final remuneration will be dependent on the years of experience the preferred candidate brings to the role.
